Do public events need wheelchair-accessible porta potties?
Public events need wheelchair-accessible units: 2010 ADA Standards section 213.2 says at least 5 percent of portable toilets in each cluster must be accessible where the standard applies. In practice, place 1 accessible unit in every cluster of up to 20 toilets.
Private backyard parties are not covered by the standard, but one accessible unit helps any guest using a wheelchair, a walker or a caregiver. Fort Wayne Parks and many venues set their own restroom rules, so confirm with your venue or permit office.
Where should porta potties go at an outdoor event?
Put event porta potties on firm, level ground at least 10 feet from food and tents, close enough that guests can see them, and within 25 feet of where our truck can park. Downwind of the seating area works best in summer.
- Keep a lit path for evening events; a string of lights on a stake is enough
- Group units together with the hand wash station at the end
- Street placement in Fort Wayne needs a Right of Way permit
- City park events follow the Fort Wayne Parks special-event rules
My party is Saturday. When do you drop it off and pick it up?
Saturday events get delivery on Friday, or Saturday morning for same-day orders, and pickup on Monday. You pay one event price; the extra days are not charged.
I only need it for one day. Why does it sit there all weekend?
Drivers do not run routes on Sunday, so weekend units go out on Friday or Saturday and come back Monday. It costs nothing extra and means the unit is in place well before guests arrive.
Can you pick it up the same evening so it is not left in the park overnight?
Same-evening pickup can be arranged for park events where the city or park does not allow overnight placement. It is added as a second trip on the quote. Tell us the park name when you book.
How early should I book for a holiday weekend?
Book 2–3 weeks ahead for Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and Labor Day weekends, and for graduation season in May and June. Regular weekends usually need about one week's notice.
Does the city or park need a contract from the porta potty company?
Fort Wayne Parks and many venues ask for proof of restroom rental. We email a booking confirmation with dates, unit count and placement once the order is paid.
Can you put porta potties at a funeral, celebration of life or church event?
Short-notice orders for funerals, celebrations of life and church events are handled the same way as other events. Call with the date and place, and we fit it into the nearest route.
We already have a bathroom in the house. Do we still need one per 50 guests?
An open indoor bathroom counts as one unit. For 100 guests with one indoor bathroom open, one rented unit usually covers a 4-hour party.
